I am trying to install using a boot CD. When it starts up, it gets to the screen which says press ENTER to boot; it shows the screen loading the files and then goes blank freezes. I tried entering fb=false and video=vga16:off argument but i keep getting could not find kernel image fb=false or could not find kernel image video=vga16:off. Any help on this? Im using a Samsung R40 laptop.Intel® Celeron M Processor 2GB RAM, 533MHz , ATI® Radeon Xpress 200M with graphics memory of UMA 64MB ~ Max 128MB.

Issue with Linux and Internet connection, how do I get my Linux partition to connect to the internet?

I’m having a hard time getting my Debian distro “ELive” to connect to the internet.

I have a Realtek RTL8101E Family PCI-E Fast Ethernet NIC (NDIS 6.0). I’ve downloaded Linux drivers from Realtek for the Ethernet card, but the biggest problem is that ELIVE DENIES me permission to install them.

I can’t use my root password, because it doesn’t fucking ask me for it. How do I open a file with “super user” access without going to the terminal? I want to do this from file manager.

Anyone knowledgeable in Debian distros, their help would be greatly appreciated. Thank-you.
