How would I modify the core components of Linux (preferably debian or ubuntu) to make my own distro?

How do you recommend I go about learning Java as my FIRST programming language? Any resources, books, courses (online), or ANYTHING that you think will help me is greatly and sincerely appreciated. —- The small details: The only other experience I have is in HTML and we design and I do not believe it counts for this want of experience. I also run Linux (Debian Sid) as an operating system and have a technical background (just not in programming or development). I will most likely be using Eclipse as my Java tool of choice, this much I do know from what I have read… Again, thank you! xq

when i tried a simple c code int main(){ return 0;}. i compiled and run it in Fedora.but when i copied that object code to Debian and run it,it is showing ‘Floating point Exception’.Why is it so? how can i make a c code so that it’s object code will run in all versions of Linux?
